Anyone visiting our forum has access to the discussion threads, but you can only post or reply to these threads if you have a Proboards account and are "signed in." To create your free account, follow these directions:
1. Click on our Discussion Forum link. You'll be taken to a new window, on Proboards, where the forum is housed.
2. Look for the box running along the top of the page. The left side of the box contains our title: Jeffco Parents Focus on School Nutrition, and under that, << Home >>. On the right side you'll see "Welcome Guest. Please login or register," with the date and time below it. The words "login" and "register" are blue, indicating they are clickable links. Click on the word "register."
3. On the Register page, you're asked to choose a username and type it in the box provided. Please make your username as close to your real name as possible so that we know who we're talking with on our forums. Example: Susan_Smith rather than ssmith.
4. Next, you'll need to choose a password and type it in the boxes provided. (You need to type it in a second time to confirm.)
5. Then provide your email. Choose the option to "Hide Email" so that your email address can't be picked up by spiders and spam robots.
6. Next, provide your birthdate (most websites are required by law to know the age of their users) and whether or not you wish your age to be shown.
7. Next, you'll see a Security Check image, and you'll need to type what you see in the box provided.
8. Lastly, read through the fine print and click "I Agree" to the Proboards Terms of Service. Then click on "Create Account."
9. Remember, after you leave the forum, you will eventually be automatically logged out. To log back in, just click on the blue "login" link at the top of the screen.
Once your account has been created and you're logged in, you'll have access to the posting and reply features of the forum. Here's how to use them:
1. Click on the topic heading you'd like to view. For example, click on the first topic, which is "Tasting Promotions."
2. Each discussion on the topic of Tasting Promotions will be listed on this page, under "Subject." You can click on the first discussion listed, which is "What is the Tasting Promotion?" By clicking on this link, you'll find the initial post starting the discussion.
3. If you'd like to reply to this post, look on the blue bar at the top of the box containing the discussion thread. Inside the blue bar are several clickable links. On the far left are two links: search and bookmark. On the far right are three links: reply, send topic to friend, and print. Click on the link that reads reply.
4. On the page that comes up, you'll see another blue bar at the top of a large box containing different areas for input. The text in the blue bar should read "Post Reply." The Subject heading for the discussion is already input in the box for you, based on the Subject heading already chosen for that discussion. You can leave it as-is or change it to something new. Even if you change the Subject heading, your reply post will remain in the same discussion thread as the post you're replying to.
5. Farther down you'll see a heading for Message, and to the right of that is a large box in which you can type your message. You can also click on the "smilies" (just above the message box) to add different smiley icons to your message.
6. Once you're done typing your message, scroll down to the bottom where you'll find four buttons with different options: Post Reply, Preview, Spell Check, and Reset. Choose Preview if you'd like to see how your post will look (this does not yet post your reply). Choose Spell Check if you'd like to have it spell-checked. Choose Reset if you'd like to erase what you have and start over. And finally, choose Post Reply if you're ready to post your reply.
